Lost and Found: My Idea File

Sunday was a very panicked day.

I lost my idea file.

I thought I knew exactly where it was, in the basket below my night stand. It wasn't. Then I thought maybe in the drawer above my basket in my night stand. It wasn't. Then I thought, maybe in the tray on my night stand above the drawer above my basket on the night stand. It wasn't.

Then I tore apart the house.

Know where I found it?

On top of the hutch in the dinning room. I have no idea how it ended up there but I'm just grateful I found it.

And here it is:

Does anyone else have one of these... it is the book I keep all my ideas in for the house. I'm a sucker for design/decorating/craft magazines. But my husband, the neat freak, would kill me if actually kept all those magazines (oh, and my catalogs too... love those.) So I enjoy the magazine cover to cover, then I tear out the pages and put them in my notebook.

And I'm just started to get pages like this one... where I've actually completed the idea!!!

My dream table for my kitchen was completed in the fall!!!

I'm hoping in the next 2 months to be able to mark just about everything in my kitchen section as "DONE!" That's right, we undertaking a kitchen renovation... but not one of those $20,000-$30,000 renovations. We're hoping to completely change the look of our kitchen for under $1,000.

Stay tuned.

  1. I have one of these, but I call it my inspiration book! I'd be pretty sad if I lost it! I'm glad you found yours!

  2. I am hooked on decorating magazines too... and I also rip out pages of ideas that I love, but I just stuff them into a folder. You have inspired me to organize them. I love the notes that you made... sometimes as I look thru my 30 year stash of ideas I wonder why it was that I kept some of them!!
