Tissue Paper Eggs

Going along with doing more seasonal decorating this year, I picked up some plastic eggs at the dollar store. The problem, I realized I really don't like the look of the plastic eggs.

So this is my first attempt at making the plastic eggs look not so plastic...

Materials:

  • Plastic Eggs (bought 18 for $1 at Dollar Tree)
  • Tissue Paper (I tried both pastel and white, liked the white better.)
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brush
  • Parchment Paper
This was pretty easy, I just covered the eggs in mod podge, then pieces of tissue paper.

Here is how it was looking with the colored tissue paper:

Not the look I was going for... so I tried white tissue paper:

That is a bit better... (The parchment paper was used so I could complete the whole egg without waiting for part to dry... I could just lay the wet egg on the parchment and it didn't stick.)

Here is the group of eggs now:

Hmmmm.

Not quite the look I was going for, I'm not going to call these a "fail" - but I don't think they are done yet. I'm going to live with them for a couple of days to see if they grow on me. If not, I'll be working with them again over the weekend.

  2. I like them! But if you're still wondering what else to do, maybe you could either sprinkle them with glitter or spray them with clear shellac?
